Cannabis: Nature’s aphrodisiac for women

Cannabis can help you relax and get out of your head and into your body, which can increase your desire for intimacy, however this is also dose-dependant as too much can have a negative effect.

Cannabis may be the best thing that’s ever happened to a woman’s sex life. For women experiencing low libido, pain or difficulty achieving an orgasm, it can be difficult to get in the mood. Thankfully cannabis helps with all of these things.

After the birth of my son I suffered from vaginal pain and exhaustion. Needless to say, sex was the furthest thing from my mind. However I also loved having sex for the intimacy and the release it provides. With the help of a naturopathic doctor who specialized in cannabis, I was able to enjoy sex again, pain-free, just by using a small amount of THC.

Cannabis can help you relax and get out of your head and into your body, which can increase your desire for intimacy. Cannabis also dilates the blood vessels in the genitals making everything more sensitive so you can have a more intense orgasm. Recent studies had also indicated that women who use cannabis, especially on a regular basis, have better sex and more often. However this is also dose-dependant as too much can have a negative effect.

There’s a right way and a wrong way to use cannabis for sex

The key is using low doses. Higher doses can make you feel over stimulated or on the other end of the spectrum, sleepy, and we don’t want to fall asleep during sex!

With cannabis it’s always a good idea to start low and go slow. Try a low dose at first and see how it makes you feel before taking more. With inhalation you want to wait about 15 minutes and with edibles at least 2 hours to feel the full effect.

Recommended cannabis products for intimacy

THC products you can try include low-dose vape pens for easy inhalation, such as the Dosist pens that are designed for a lighter effect. There are also fast-acting edibles that have a shorter onset and duration, making them less of a commitment than a standard edible, which can last several hours. Most of the cannabis beverages you buy are fast-acting however there are a few fast-acting edibles on the market as well, such as Wana Quick.

Other products you can try to spice things up in the bedroom are cannabis-infused topicals – these work locally so they don’t get you high. There’s also infused bath bombs for a relaxing soak, infused massage oils and infused lube, such as Sexpot by Latitude.

I recommend trying different products to see what works best for you, before you’re intimate. Take some time to explore the variety of cannabis products available and have fun. This will help you feel more relaxed and confident during sex.
