Cannabis is legal, but dealing it out of your trunk is not.

That’s one of the latest reminders coming from West Shore RCMP in the Greater Victoria area after a routine call on May 18 netted the seizure of $15,000 in illicit cannabis.

According to police, a 34-year-old woman was found selling cannabis in a commercial parking lot.

She was arrested and charged under the Cannabis Act are being reviewed by BC Prosecution Service.

In B.C., it’s illegal to possess more than 30 grams of dried cannabis in public. For medical marijuana, it’s 150 grams or a 30-day supply, whichever is lower.

Penalties for illegal distribution or possession over the limit include fines for small amounts and anywhere from five to 14 years in jail.
