You’re not the only canvas for this Sylvan Lake tattoo artist!

Sylvan Lake’s Lucid Tattooing and Design is a tattoo and body piercing shop with a twist: in addition to body art, the team also creates design work for both print, web and more.

When Brandon Fancie first began tattooing, he followed his mentor’s advice to attend art school – advice that took him to the Art Institute of Vancouver.

Armed with this comprehensive education and training, when he set out to open his own shop, he embraced the opportunity to shatter the image of a stereotypical tattoo parlour.

Proudly serving Alberta since 2012, Sylvan Lake’s Lucid Tattooing and Design is a tattoo and body piercing shop with a twist! A sanctuary for self-expression, body art isn’t the only thing offered, with design work available for both print and web, among other services.

Fancie’s daughter enjoys a front row show by Red Sun Phenomenon! Important note: this image was taken prior to COVID

It’s seen Fancie working on a variety of projects, including creating custom murals and collaborating with local artists. Recently, as the band Red Sun Phenomenon works on their new album, Fancie is helping with the album art. He’s also excited to join them again at their shows, once they can do so safely of course, to perform live painting sessions as the band plays – now how’s that for a show!

And with screen printing for custom apparel available, you can work with him to create unique pieces. While the printing typically has Fancie creating t-shirts and hoodies, they’ve recently expanded to include custom face masks – a timely way to showcase your brand.

Tattoos, for design less temporary

If you’re after something less temporary, tattoos are the perfect alternative. As the weather warms, it’s important to note how that changes your tattoo care.

“If you’re getting a new tattoo, especially with this warming weather, it’s important that you take proper care of it,” Francie notes. He advises using a mild moisturizer, wearing SPF and keeping the art out of the sun and water for the first few weeks.

With a variety of services offered, working with diverse clientele on assorted projects helps make every day different for Fancie. It also allows him to blend the best of both worlds – the very personal tattoo art and the professionally creative graphic design.

“I’ve worked really hard to become well-rounded because I don’t have many other artists in the shop with me so I want to be ready to take on anything that comes through my doors,” Fancie notes.
