Cannabis gala celebrates excellence in cannabis industry

The 2024 Grow Up industry Awards celebrated leaders within the cannabis industry, with this year’s awards held at the Delta Hotels Toronto Airport and Conference Centre May 27.

The Grow Up Conference and Expo offers extensive networking events and showcases the latest innovations in cannabis. With a strong emphasis on cultivation and retail, the conference aims to foster growth and success for cannabis brands across Canada, setting a robust foundation for the future of the industry.

The sold-out gala event recognized the outstanding contributions and achievements of industry leaders, innovators and influencers across the Canadian cannabis industry, and awarded top honours across 33 different categories.

The gala had several notable moments, including Tommy Chong receiving the Legends of Cannabis Award. Chong is known for his work as a comedian and cannabis activist, and famously his marijuana-themed Cheech and Chong comedy movies, with Cheech Marin.

Jorge Cervantes, who works in cannabis cultivation, was included into the Hall of Fame, while Mila Jansen, known internationally as the Hash Queen, took home the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Notable winners included Chris Crosbie, acclaimed as Grower of the Year, is known for his work as the founder of vertically operated cannabis company in St. Johns.

Organic cannabis producer Sweetgrass Cannabis won Micro Producer of the Year, and MTL Cannabis, known for modernizing street cannabis culture, was awarded Brand of the Year.

Following the awards, the celebrations continued at the Vue Event Venue with an after-awards party hosted by Merit Method and Spark Play Events. The party provided an opportunity for attendees to network and celebrate.
